Jim Ryan's 1/14 scale Grumman F4F Wildcat as featured in the April, 2004 issue of Model Aviation magazine. The model is of all built-up construction, and the semi-monocoque fuselage is built over a disposable internal crutch to help insure a straight assembly.

The short kit includes laser-cut balsa and plywood parts, a pre-drilled balsa nose/cowl block, vacuum-formed canopy, and full-size printed plans. As with most of our Jim Ryan kits, wings are not included - you can cut wings from foam using templates included on the plans or you can order them pre-cut from the designer Jim Ryan. See the Instructions tab for a link and for tips on building foam wings.

The Wildcat was designed for a 6V Speed 400 motor on 7 or 8 cells, but it can also be powered by a small brushless motor for even more impressive performance. See the Instructions tab for tips on selecting a brushless motor for your Wildcat.
